Accessibility Information

Rock the Harbour takes place on the Alderney Landing Events Plaza on the Dartmouth waterfront. We are committed to creating a welcoming event experience and sharing clear accessibility information in advance so guests can plan their visit with confidence.

If you have an accessibility-related question or need to discuss a specific accommodation before attending, please contact us at [email protected]

1Festival Site
The Rock the Harbour festival grounds are located on a flat, paved outdoor plaza. The main entrance, guest areas, food area, merchandise area, water refill station, first aid area, and portable washrooms are all located on level ground.

There are no stairs required to enter or move through the main festival site.
2Viewing and Seating Areas
Rock the Harbour includes designated seating areas within the festival grounds. The stage is elevated, and the site is designed so that guests in the designated seating areas have a clear view of the stage, including when guests are standing or dancing closer to the front.

Guests are welcome to bring a regular folding chair to use in the designated seating areas. For everyone’s safety and comfort, please do not bring oversized chairs, loungers, or chairs that take up extra space unless required for accessibility reasons. Guests whose mobility or accessibility needs require a chair or seating device larger than a standard fold-out camping chair will be accommodated.

Guests using wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, canes, or other mobility devices are welcome throughout the festival grounds.
3Accessible Washrooms
Accessible portable toilets will be available on site. These will be located within the festival grounds on flat ground.
4Food, Merchandise, Water, and First Aid
The following areas will be located on flat ground and accessible to guests using mobility devices:

Food trucks and food service areas
Merchandise area
Water refill station
First aid area
Bar/service areas

Please note that food trucks may have their own individual service-window heights or layouts. Festival staff and volunteers will be available to help direct guests as needed.
5Entrance and Paths of Travel
The festival entrance is located on flat ground at the bottom of Ochterloney Street. Main guest routes within the event site are also flat and paved.

Staff and volunteers will be available at the entrance and throughout the site to help with wayfinding and to answer questions.
6Parking and Drop-Off
Rock the Harbour does not have a dedicated public parking lot for event attendees. Guests are encouraged to plan ahead and use nearby street parking, paid parking options, transit, ferry service, taxi, ride share, or drop-off where possible.

A drop-off area will be available at the festival entrance at the bottom of Ochterloney Street. This is the recommended option for guests who need to be dropped off close to the entrance.

For nearby parking information in Downtown Dartmouth, please visit: https://www.downtowndartmouth.ca/parking

Please note that free parking may be available near the Zatzman Sportsplex; however, this is approximately a 10-minute walk from Alderney Landing and includes a steep hill. This option may not be suitable for guests with mobility-related accessibility needs.
7Transit and Ferry Access
Alderney Landing is located next to the Alderney Ferry Terminal and nearby bus routes. Guests using public transit should check Halifax Transit schedules and accessibility information before travelling.
8Service Animals
Service animals are welcome at Rock the Harbour. Guests attending with a service animal may contact us in advance if they have any questions about site layout, seating, or relief areas.
9Medical and Accessibility Needs
Guests who require medication, medical supplies, mobility devices, or other accessibility-related items are welcome to bring them into the festival grounds.

If you have a specific medical or accessibility need that may require advance planning, please contact us before the event at [email protected].
10Lighting, Sound, and Sensory Information
Rock the Harbour is a live outdoor music festival. Guests should expect loud amplified music, large crowds, stage lighting, and an energetic concert environment.

Guests who are sensitive to noise may wish to bring ear protection. Quieter areas may be limited once performances are underway.
11Weather and Outdoor Conditions
Rock the Harbour is an outdoor event and takes place rain or shine. The festival site is paved and flat, but weather may affect ground conditions, comfort, and movement throughout the site.

Guests are encouraged to check the forecast and dress for the weather.
12Staff Assistance
Festival staff, security, and volunteers will be on site throughout the event. If you need assistance during the festival, please speak with a staff member, security team member, volunteer, or visit the first aid area.
13Questions Before the Event
We encourage guests with accessibility-related questions to contact us before the festival so we can provide the most accurate information possible.
